The ESPORA artist-in-residency program, led by Phonos, aims to establish connections with Art, Music, and Technology Education institutions throughout Europe by inviting artists in their late formative processes (master, PhD, post-doc...) to develop and present parts of their artwork at Phonos offering as well opportunities for internationalization, learning, and networking.

After the first ESPORA residence in April (Echo Ho and Jens Vetter from Linz Kunstuniversität), next week Phonos will host Ted Moore and James Bradbury, research fellows on the FluCoMa project from the University of Huddersfield. They will participate in ESPORA residence program between 13 and 21 May 2022 to develop their artistic work in the interactive music studio and 3D audio hall. During their residency, they will offer a research seminar on Wednesday 18 about their current research in the FluCoMa Project, and a performance at a public event on Friday 20.

Ted Moore is a composer, improviser, intermedia artist, and educator. He holds a PhD in Music Composition from the University of Chicago and is currently serving as a Research Fellow in Creative Coding at the University of Huddersfield, investigating the creative affordances of machine learning and data science algorithms as part of the FluCoMa project.​ His work focuses on fusing the sonic, visual, physical, and acoustic aspects of performance and sound, often through the integration of technology. Ted also frequently performs electronics using his laptop, modular synthesizer systems, resonant physical objects, lighting instruments, and video projection. As an improviser, Ted is one half of Binary Canary, a woodwinds-laptop improvisation duo alongside saxophonist Kyle Hutchins.

James Bradbury is a creative-coder and artist from Perth, Western Australia, currently living in Northern England. He enjoys programming and often harnesses the computer to find and organize audio-samples through machine listening and learning. He currently works as a Research Fellow in Creative Coding on the FluCoMa project. He has just released his album Interferences.

The research seminar will be held in room 55.003 (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) on Wednesday, May 18 at 12.30h.
