Trustworthy AI is a foundational concept guiding the regulation of Generative AI, particularly within the European Union. As generative music systems become increasingly prevalent, their development must align with these emerging regulatory frameworks. According to the EU AI Act, providers of certain AI systems that generate audio content are required to ensure outputs are clearly identifiable as artificially generated or manipulated.

The Music Technology Group at Universitat Pompeu Fabra’s Department of Engineering, through the UPF-BMAT Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Music, is actively collaborating with the EU to assess and shape technical solutions that can meet these regulatory requirements. Central to this process is the involvement of diverse stakeholders from the music and technology sectors, ensuring that proposed solutions are not only technically viable but also contextually appropriate and beneficial for the broader music ecosystem.

This workshop is part of that ongoing initiative. It aims to explore the challenges and opportunities in implementing the AI Act within the domain of generative music, and to bring together multiple perspectives - technical, creative, legal, and industrial - on how to ensure that future AI-driven music technologies are transparent, ethical, and supportive of innovation in the music sector.
