This talk addresses the links between academic research, engineering practices and policy perspectives in the field of trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) from a European perspective. We provide a summary of the European approach for AI, analyze relevant ethical guidelines and ongoing legal initiatives, and outline some interdisciplinary scientific challenges for ensuring trustworthiness in different types of AI systems, from autonomous driving to music recommender systems.
