In memoriam: Prof. Frederick Schauer (1946-2024)

Sadly, Frederick Schauer (1946-2024), one of the most brilliant scholars in the fields of jurisprudence and constitutional law, passed away yesterday. He was a professor at the University of Virginia, previously at Harvard and Michigan. His work on freedom of expression, on judicial evidence, on legal reasoning and, in particular, on the nature of rules, Playing by the Rules (OUP 1991) is crucial, and was the first book to be translated in the Marcial Pons Philosophy and Law series, directed by Jordi Ferrer and J.J. Moreso. He maintained a close relationship with our research group, visited our university several times, in fact, he inaugurated in 2015 our Barcelona Law & Philosophy Colloquium. He was a very generous person, always willing to help the younger ones. We will miss him.
