I International Workshop of the UPF Center for Gianni Vattimo’s Philosophy and Archives
Have we Reached Vattimo’s Transparent Society?
Monday 28th October 2019
2019 marks the 30th anniversary of Gianni Vattimo’s 1989 book The Transparent Society which Jean-François Lyotard considered “of major importance to the debate of the postmodern condition”. This book, translated in several languages, has become one of the first to discuss the problem transparency in our society and anticipates many political and communication issues such as “fake news”, “post-truth” and “alternative facts”. The goal of this Workshop is to discuss and debate the actuality of the Italian philosopher thesis from a social, political, and aesthetic point of view with scholars from Canada, Italy, and Spain.
