Intense days of EUTOPIA student gatherings at the CY Cergy University in Paris. The French university hosted the first edition of EUTOPIA's Ideas Club on Thursday and the second BeEUTOPIAn Conference on Friday, with students from Pompeu Fabra University participating in both events.

On Thursday, EUTOPIA's Ideas Club had its inaugural meeting, bringing together approximately thirty students from the ten universities in the Alliance. This student-led debate program explores various topics with the aim of increasing awareness of European values, intercultural differences, and identity. Professor Carlotta Pisano from NOVA University in Lisbon, Portugal, moderated the debate, with Eudald Sanz, a Journalism undergraduate student, and Maria Pérez, a Global Studies undergraduate student, representing UPF.

The main theme of this first session revolved around the concepts of Nation, Diversity, and European Identity, as well as the ideas of multiculturalism and interculturalism. The Ideas Club will meet twice a year, both in-person and online, and each session will produce outcomes in the form of reports, manifestos, or audiovisual materials with the debate's conclusions.

On the other hand, the EUTOPIA Alliance's Student Council held its annual BeEUTOPIAn Conference on Friday. It serves as a platform for students, professors, and staff from EUTOPIA universities to exchange ideas, engage in debates, and learn from diverse perspectives. Pol Lloberas, a Journalism undergraduate student and UPF's representative on the EUTOPIA Student Council, participated in the conference.

The format of this conference is dynamic and participatory, with activities such as debate sessions, working groups, brainstorming sessions, mind mapping, and lectures. Beyond that, the sessions also have an educational aspect regarding methodology and the publication and dissemination of scientific and research materials.

For Eudald and Maria, their participation in the Ideas Club is their first involvement in any of EUTOPIA's initiatives. Maria admitted that she wasn't sure what to expect from the meeting but quickly grasped its purpose: "It was a very enjoyable and enriching debate with all kinds of perspectives," she said, "it has been a personal and professional growth." Eudald also described the initiative as very interesting, especially due to the presence of students from different nationalities and backgrounds: "It helps to understand different views and perspectives and allowed me to learn new concepts about the relationships between different cultures," he recounted.
