From March 4th to 8th, the Second Language Week of EUTOPIA will take place. The alliance of ten European universities, including Pompeu Fabra University, will promote and participate in various activities across most of the alliance's institutions, some of which can be followed online.

The initiative arises around the existing Learning Communities within the alliance on 'Multilingualism and Diversity' and 'Text and Discourse Analysis.' It is part of EUTOPIA's commitment to multilingualism and the promotion of languages spoken at the alliance's universities. Throughout the week, professors, researchers, and the university community come together in this event that celebrates languages, culture, and diversity. There will be film screenings, language samplers, roundtable discussions, workshops, and many other activities focused on languages, multilingualism, translation, and culture at each institution.

UPF will offer different activities, some of which are open to members of the entire alliance. Notable events include the conference "Intercultural Spaces, Languages and Identities" on March 4th and oral presentations by Cultural Journalism students on March 7th. Also on the 7th the activity I feel good! I’m multilingual. A conversation around the ins and outs of multilingualism, will take place. Beyond this, UPF is relaunching the MOOC in Catalan, open to students and the university community from other EUTOPIA universities, which can be taken in the coming months. Prior to the week of events, EUTOPIA joins the commemoration of Pompeu Fabra Day on February 20th, which will be broadcast online.

The UPF community can also enjoy activities offered by the European universities in the alliance and global partners during the week. Highlights include conferences on "University alliances as agents of change for multilingual education" and "Language policy at Dutch universities," as well as the roundtable "Language professionals in the age of AI." Additionally, there are various language cafés and language tastings in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, or South African Sign Language, among other virtual activities.
