On May 13, EUTOPIA Day was held, bringing together students, faculty, and staff from the UPF community in a highly participatory and welcoming atmosphere.

The opening coffee networking session set the tone for the event, providing a space designed to encourage informal conversations and connections within the UPF EUTOPIA community. During this first session, the EUTOPIA Commissioner, Josep Ibañez, addressed a few words of thanks to all those involved in the project, highlighting the collective effort behind the initiative and the importance of continuing to foster collaboration within the EUTOPIA Alliance.

This was followed by a roundtable on science diplomacy, which brought together academics and institutional representatives to reflect on the role of science in today’s international context. The session was moderated by Dr. Mark Jeffery and featured the participation of Professor Andrea Noferini, from UPF and lead of the EUTOPIA Nominated Partnership Minerva, as well as representatives from the Catalan public administration and the European Commission. With more than 100 ESCI-UPF students attending, the session sparked strong interest and opened a rich discussion on the challenges and opportunities of science diplomacy today.

The day continued with an activity BEutopian, led by students, who shared experiences and projects linked to EUTOPIA. Initiatives presented included Ideas Club, delivered by Eudald Sanz, Innovation Challenges, presented by Aishwayra Córdoba and Manel Mesa, the EUTOPIA Student Council, presented by Nil Cassany, and the EUTOPIA Summer Schools Scholarships, presented by Inés Raoul. All these contributions helped showcase the opportunities offered by the network and share first-hand experiences.

To close the day, participants from the final session gathered once again for a closing coffee networking, which allowed conversations to continue, impressions to be exchanged, and the connections made throughout the day to be further strengthened.
