We are excited to announce the launch of Mobili-Tea, the new podcast produced by the Early-Stage Researchers of the EuroMedMig Marie Curie PhD Network.

Rooted in the Mediterranean and driven by social science research, Mobili-Tea creates space for open and accessible conversations on migration and mobility across the region. Through a series of informal yet critical discussions, the podcast aims to move beyond headlines and political slogans to unpack the broader dynamics shaping migration debates today.

Each episode starts from a concrete issue — whether a political controversy, a media narrative, or a viral moment online — and explores the assumptions, policies, and power relations underlying public discussions on migration. The podcast adopts a distinctly Mediterranean perspective, approaching the region not simply as a backdrop to migration “crises,” but as a space where mobility, borders, and knowledge are continuously produced and contested.

Produced entirely by EuroMedMig Early-Stage Researchers, Mobili-Tea also serves as a collective platform for emerging scholars to bring academic research into public conversation and contribute new perspectives to contemporary debates.

As the podcast’s motto suggests:

No jargon. Just honest conversations about mobility across the Mediterranean.

The first episode, “Safe for Whom? Rethinking ‘Safe Countries of Origin’”, is now available on Spotify. The episode critically examines how the notion of “safety” is constructed within migration governance and what consequences these classifications have for people on the move.
