10th June'25 - Advancing Planetary Health Education: a workshop on Postgraduate Programs in Planetary Health

06.03.2025

In 2023, the Centre for Studies on Planetary Wellbeing at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), and the Planetary Health Alliance European Hub co-organized a workshop to share the latest developments in Postgraduate Education in Planetary Health across Europe.

Building on the insights and outcomes of that edition, this new workshop aims to exchange and present the programs developed over the past two years, foster discussions on postgraduate teaching experiences in Planetary Health, and provide a space to share research and innovative initiatives related to education in this field.

  • Format and structure: The workshop will be held in a hybrid format, with in-person sessions at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Rambla del Poblenou, 154-156, 08018 Barcelona) and online via Zoom.
    • The morning session will begin with a roundtable discussion on the development of new and existing Planetary Health postgraduate programs from various European universities. A second roundtable will focus on different teaching experiences in Planetary Health education, such as the inclusion of Planetary Health courses in other educational programs.
    • In the afternoon, the workshop will provide a space for participants to exchange insights on teaching methodologies and projects in Planetary Health education. Additionally, it will include contributions from Planetary Health master’s students, who will share their experiences, challenges, and how they are applying Planetary Health principles in their workplaces after completing their studies.

  • Date and Time: Tuesday, 10th June, 9:00 - 17:30h CEST

  • Target audience: educators in the field of Planetary Health & Public Health, people involved in the development of post-graduate education in topics related to Planetary Health, students particularly interested in the field of  Planetary Health.
