Do you want to develop an entrepreneurship project with other colleagues? Do you have an idea or solutions for current social challenges? Do you want to do something about the climate crisis or sexist behaviour? This training offers students a space to think and develop a project, enrich it, exchange ideas with other projects and know how the Social and Solidarity Economy works to generate social impact. The students participating in this initiative will develop their projects through different workshops and activities that will allow them to transformo their ideas into a real project that generates social impac. In addition, you can recognize 3 ECTS with this activity!

Master's degree in Planetary Health (UOC-ISGlobal-UPF)

The Inter-University Master's Degree in Planetary Health aims to provide graduates with the skills necessary to promote health at global level while respecting the limits of the planet's natural systems, by analysing the challenges facing humanity that are linked to the global climate and environment crisis, designing solutions and implementing these solutions in our societies, from the respective areas of knowledge. Minor in Planetary Wellbeing

The principal objective of this course is to expand knowledge and to understand the complex, interrelated and systemic problems threatening human and animal wellbeing as well as the wellbeing of the planet itself as a global ecosystem. It aims to identify integrated, innovative and interdisciplinary solutions to these problems.

  • Target: Students from UPF integrated centres and those holding UPF degrees registered on the Alumni programme.
  • Characteristics: Students will have to choose from a range of diferents subjects and disciplines as well as student activities and events. 
  • Number of credits: To obtain the qualification, students must complete a minimum of 24 ECTS credits.

MOOC in Planetary Wellbeing (starting from April 2024)

The university has been working on the design of a MOOC entitled ‘Introduction to Planetary Wellbeing’. From April 2024 students can participate in this activity for 1 ECTS. Notice that after registering for this activity, if you want to recognize 1 ECTS, you need to apply for credit recognition here.

The MOOC has been launched in 2024 and it is composed of 5 different modules.

  • Module 0: The new challenges on a planetary scale
    - Aim:     reflect on the planetary scale challenges we are facing

  • Module 1: Introduction to Planetary Wellbeing
    - Aim: explain the concept of planetary well-being, its relationship with the SDGs and provide an introduction to the rest of the modules.
    - Learning objectives: 

    • Understand the global, complex and urgent challenges facing humanit

    • Know the UN SDGs initiative and understand its link with the notion of planetary well-being

    • Understand the four pillars of the change of the framework “The Future is Now” proposed by the UN applied to the framework of Planetary Wellbeing

  • Module 2: Climate change and sustainability
    - Aim: describe the causes and consequences of climate change and present the circular economy as a mitigation proposal
    - Learning objectives: 

    • Know how to identify the main causes of climate change and its consequences

    • Understand the relationship between the linear production and consumption system, waste generation, and biodiversity loss

    • The concept of circular economy and its principles

  • Module 3: Planetary health
    - Aim: change the way of thinking about human health and disease by incorporating the sustainability of the planet into the concept of human health.
    - Learning objectives:

    • Understand health problems in terms of planetary health, identifying the impacts of the environment on health and the impacts of human activity on the planet.
    • Identify the main impacts of global environmental change on human health
    • Recognise the main strategies to promote planetary health

  • Module 4: Sustainable and healthy global cities
    -Aim: Identify and analyse the historical and current relationship between food production, and growth models in cities and Planetary Wellbeing.
    - Learning objectives: 

    • Critically reflect on the current food model, its influence on cities and, at the same time, its consequences on Planetary Wellbeing. 
    • Learn examples, experiences and practices that not only question the current model, but provide alternatives that go in the same direction of the SDGs promoted by the UN.
