The Centre for Studies on Planetary Wellbeing at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Centre de Estudis sobre Benestar Planetari) stems from the Institutional Initiative on Planetary Wellbeing promoted by the former Rector Jaume Casals.

The Centre functions as a catalyst for people who are interested in themes related to Planetary Wellbeing within UPF. We envision that through dialogue and continuous exchange of ideas, new opportunities will arise, in the form of collaborative research proposals, proof-of-concepts, creation of networks, artistic  performances, etc.

The Centre embodies UPF's efforts to implement environmental stewardship into society and education. The Centre will convey and accelerate UPF's commitment to the SDGs and its institutional transformation, to respond effectively to the challenges of imagination, knowledge and social and political action posed by the climate and biodiversity crisis.

UPF is the fifth best university in Europe according to U-Multirank, the ranking promoted by the European Union

The University is notable in the indicators linked to research, international orientation and regional engagement

11.06.2018

U-Multirank has published the results of the fifth edition of its ranking, which evaluates more than 1,600 universities in 95 countries. This project was conceived by the European Commission as a multidimensional tool to evaluate universities' activities on the basis of the criteria of the user, moving away from "closed" university rankings. However, recent editions have begun to include "readymade rankings", where are the best universities in an activity, discipline or country based on a selection of indicators depending on what you want to evaluate are.

In the ranking of the best European universities, UPF comes fifth in Europe and the first of the State (only behind the King's College London, University College London, the University of Oxford and University College Cork). Specifically, UPF stands out in all indicators linked to research (citations and impact of size normalized publications), international orientation (student mobility and international joint publications) and regional engagement (employment of graduates in the region and regional joint publications).

In addition to these, the user can create their own ranking from a catalogue of 191 indicators linked to five dimensions of University activity (teaching and learning, research, international orientation, regional engagement and knowledge transfer). It is also possible to assess the activity of the universities as a whole or choose a discipline from among the 21 subjects that the ranking considers.
