The Centre for Studies on Planetary Wellbeing at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Centre de Estudis sobre Benestar Planetari) stems from the Institutional Initiative on Planetary Wellbeing promoted by the former Rector Jaume Casals.

The Centre functions as a catalyst for people who are interested in themes related to Planetary Wellbeing within UPF. We envision that through dialogue and continuous exchange of ideas, new opportunities will arise, in the form of collaborative research proposals, proof-of-concepts, creation of networks, artistic  performances, etc.

The Centre embodies UPF's efforts to implement environmental stewardship into society and education. The Centre will convey and accelerate UPF's commitment to the SDGs and its institutional transformation, to respond effectively to the challenges of imagination, knowledge and social and political action posed by the climate and biodiversity crisis.

For the second year, UPF appears in the classification in the field of Arts and Humanities, including humanities and language sciences. The University comes level in the ranking with the Complutense University of Madrid, while the first institutions for the State are the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Barcelona (tied in the 101-125 bracket).

This ranking by subjects uses the same weighting system as the general THE ranking based on thirteen performance indicators from five major areas in which UPF has obtained the following scores: Teaching (34.9), Research (29.8), Citations in publications (67), Internationalization (56.7) and Transfer (42.8).

The results of the ranking reward interdisciplinary research and teaching around specific areas. The table is led by Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), two U.S. universities recognized for their strength in technology that connect their departments of arts and humanities with scientific and technical disciplines.
