As a Biotechnologist my general research interests are focused onto joint different fields and transfer knowledge and concepts between them. I’m specialized in brain developmental genetics after having been working for 3 years at the Department of Genetics of the Faculty of Biology at Universitat de Barcelona. There, I was studying how different genetic programs dictate the wiring specificity of the brain at microscopic level using Drosophila melanogaster as model organism. After finishing an MSc in Neuroscience, I jumped to the computational field trying to make a bridge between micro and macroscales. At this moment, my specific interest is related to integrating genetic data in whole-brain models, through biophysical modelling of large-scale dynamics to shed light how local heterogeneity in genetic expression could shape the global dynamics of the human brain. I’m also interested in brain developmental modelling, as well as, in the emerging concept of Neural-Astrocytic Network (NAN) and how astrocytes could encode information and modulate brain dynamics.
