  • Abstract
  • This article reports the findings of a study concerning mobile applications for tourism in 2013. The research, which studied 66 applications, combined a quantitative description of this sector with qualitative categories based on a semiotic analysis. This article evaluates and compares the applications, identifies their main traits, and proposes a taxonomy which consists of: content-based applications, participatory applications and leisure applications.
