Service in Academia: CEL/ELC (Conseil Européen des Langues/European Language Council) (1997-2010), and Consell Superior d'Avaluació del Sistema Educatiu (Council for the Evaluation of the Educational System) of Catalonia. Vice-President of the COST ACTION network (15130) "Study Abroad in European Perspective" and "European Network on International Student Mobility: Connecting Research and Practice" (2016-2020). Coordinator of the AILA-ReN on Study Abroad (2011-2017).

Scientific committees in journals and publications: I serve as reviewer for Modern Language Journal, System, Language Learning, Discover Education, TESOL Quarterly, the ELT Journal, Springer, Study Abroad and International Education, and for publishers such as John Benjamins and Multilingual Matters.

Service to the UPF community: In 1999 I founded and directed the language center at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Idiomes UPF) , until I was appointed Vice rector for the Promotion of Languages (2004) and subsequently Rector's Delegate for languages (2009-2013). In such capacities I designed and implemented the Plan of Action for Multilingualism (PAM) at UPF, a model for the rest of the country and in Europe. I was appointed Coordinator of the Doctoral Programme at my Department (2018-2022) and subsequently Academic Coordinator for the EUTOPIA Alliance UPF project (2022-2025).
