The Populations and Ecosystems (PaE) Program focuses on the study of complexity and diversity within and between individuals, populations, species, and ecosystems. Its primary goal is to unravel the mechanisms underlying their origin, the evolutionary processes driving these patterns, and to understand their biological and medical consequences. The program spams a wide array of research areas, including the complexity of life, population and demographic dynamics, the genomic footprint of natural selection, comparative and ancient genomics, the evolution of aging, the genomic basis of human traits and diseases, the evolutionary history of disease, as well as precision and preventive medicine.
