Amal El Farhmat is a PhD student in the Interactive and Distributed Technologies for Education (TIDE) group within the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Barcelona. She holds an engineering degree in Computer Science from INSEA (Morocco) and a MSc in ICT from the Kobe Institute of Computing (Japan). As an Erasmus Mundus alumna, she also earned a Master of Arts in Technology for Translation and Interpreting from the University of Málaga (Spain) and Ghent University (Belgium) where she investigated the use of auto-subtitling and machine translation for foreign language learning. Her interdisciplinary experience as an ICT engineer and educator —both online and in person—sparked her interest in the intersection between education and technology. Her current research explores how Generative AI can support Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to enhance inclusion and accessibility in diverse learning environments.
