The 17th best young university in the world

At the end of May, the Times Higher Education (THE), one of the university rankings with most prestige and global influence, published the first edition of “100 Under 50,” a ranking of the top hundred universities in the world under 50 years old. UPF is the first Spanish university coming 17th in the world ranking and 9th in Europe.

This new international ranking seeks to recognize and highlight young institutions with growing potential that are capable of holding leadership positions in the field of higher education in the near future.

The ranking assesses thirteen indicators grouped into five main categories: teaching (30%), research (30%), citations -the impact of published studies (30%), internationalization -both concerning students and lecturers, (7.5%) and knowledge transfer and innovation (2.5%), each of which has a specific weighting when making the overall calculation. UPF, which obtained an overall score of 45.7, stood out for citations and internationalization, with scores of 87.6 and 54.3, respectively.
