Three distinctions for teaching quality

UPF obtained three of the eight collective Jaume Vicens Vives distinctions for university teaching quality, granted by the Catalan Government. The awards were presented during the opening ceremony of the Catalan University academic year 2004-2005, which took place on 27 September.

The first winner was the Vilapompeu team of the Political Sciences and Public Management studies for the project “Vilapompeu, the virtual town council”, a simulation of the website and the intranet of a Catalan town council that acts as an instrument to support face-to-face teaching. Miquel Salvador directed the study, which also involved a further twelve lecturers.

The runner-up was the “Introductory manual to teaching: the Bologna Horizon”, a collection of advice based on the experience of renowned lecturers of the University focusing on teaching from the new European educational space, redefining the role of the lecturer and a major change of perspective. Francesc Pedró led the project, which enjoyed the collaboration of nineteen lecturers.

Finally, also awarded was the “Pilot experience of Linguistics studies. Experimentation of the new teaching paradigm”. These new studies, which began in the 2003-2004 academic year, incorporated technology to a traditional arts field of study, as is linguistics, and were taught according to the new Bologna educational paradigm. Àlex Alsina, Toni Badia and Enric Vallduví oversaw the academic direction of the project, with the participation of a further eleven lecturers.
