Senate constitution and election of the first rector

With 118 votes in favour and 11 blank, the constitutional Senate elected Enric Argullol i Murgadas, full professor of Administrative Law at UPF, first rector of Pompeu Fabra University. At the same session, held on 29 January, the commission was elected to write the draft UPF Statutes which comprised representatives of the lecturers, the administrative and service staff (PAS), and students.

On 16 June the Senate adopted the Statutes, the legal system governing the institution. They were composed of 167 articles, divided into thirteen parts, four additional provisions, nine transitional and one final provision. 72% of the Senate voted in favour, 7% against and 19% cast blank votes.
