Minor in Initial Studies in Translation
Description
In an increasingly globalised world, in which the exchange of information often involves using texts produced in different languages, experts are needed who not only master foreign languages but also have training in the techniques and principles that define professional translation. The Minor in Initial Studies in Translation seeks to introduce students from various disciplines into the study of translation, by offering a presentation of the theoretical principles and the methodology of this discipline.
Target
Students at UPF centres, students on the UPF Open Bachelor’s Degree programme and UPF graduates enrolled in the UPF Alumni programme. Students taking the bachelor’s degrees offered by the Faculty of Translation and Language Sciences are excluded.
Characteristics
In order to obtain the qualification, students are required to take a minimum of 20 ECTS credits and a maximum of 30 ECTS credits.
Students cannot include subjects that form part of their curriculum in the Minor.
Out of the total of credits that make up the Minor, students are only allowed to have taken a maximum of 10 credits as part of the academic record of their official degree at UPF, either as cross-disciplinary free-elective training or as RAC credits, depending on the activity.
The timetables of the subjects and the rooms where the classes are taught will be scheduled by the studies in charge of the corresponding training activity. The subjects are taught in the language indicated in the course plan or in the programme of the proposed activity.
Activities
This Minor establishes two options:
Option 1: translation into Catalan
