Prices and payment methods
Enrolment fee
For all Catalan public universities, the Catalan Regional Government sets the price for official studies on an annual basis through a Decree that establishes the public prices for academic services according to the experimental level attributed to each programme. You can see courses fees here.
Keep in mind that there is a compulsory school insurance fee of €1.12 for students under 28 years of age. You can find all the information about the insurance here.

If you are not an EU citizen, but you have a Spanish residence permit that is valid for the date of the start of the academic year (01/09/2023), send it via the CAU so that we can apply the EU student tuition fees. Important: STUDENT residence permits do not imply eligibility for the EU student tuition fees.
Payment methods and deadlines
Fees can be paid in the following ways:
a) By direct debit in one or two instalments:
When completing your enrolment, you must have the necessary details to hand so that you can enter them in the online form related to "Payment information"(pending publication).: IBAN, given name(s) and family name(s) of the account holder.
These account details will also be used if the University needs to give you a refund.
The debiting account must be in a European country in the SEPA zone (see list of countries).
In Spain, the IBAN consists of 24 digits:
- ES (Spain country code)
- A 2-digit control number
- The 20 digits of the current account
The University will charge you with either a single payment or the first instalment (includes administrative fees and 60% of the price of the credits) in the days immediately following your enrolment*. The second instalment (the remaining 40% of the price of the credits) will be charged in late December.

b) Monthly payment (between 6 and 10 instalments) at 0% interest - AGAUR (FINAN)
With this option, which is handled by the Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR), you can pay the total amount of your tuition fees in several monthly instalments. This depends on the date you sign the loan, and is subject to the following conditions:
- Interest rate: 0% per annum
- Arrangement fee: 3,25% of the total tuition fees.
- Commission for early payment: €0
To apply for the loan, the total tuition fee must be between 500 and 9,600 euros, and only students of Spanish nationality or non-Spanish nationals holding a NIE can apply (passports or other documents are not valid). In such cases, the addition of a co-title holder who can prove sufficient income will be requested. The financial institution will assess solvency.
The loan does not include changes made subsequent to enrolment. The amount must be paid in a single payment by direct debit.
If you choose this option, you must have the IBAN code and authorize the AGAUR to transfer your data to the chosen financial institution. You will receive an email at your UPF address setting out the steps you must follow to contract the loan.
If you are awarded the general grant, you will be refunded the amount covered by the grant you have paid with the loan.

In addition, for non-payment, you may be charged handling fees of between 15% and 60% of the outstanding amount, in accordance with the University regulations.
Enrolment withdrawal
We inform you that, enrolment withdrawal not entail exemption from the payment of any amount, except in the specific cases stipulated in the Article 5 of the Decree on prices and the Article 6.2 of the Rules regulating the financial aspects of enrolment for official courses.
The application for enrolment withdrawal must be made for the UPF Electronic Office.
Newly admitted students
In accordance with the provisions of the Decree establishing the prices of academic services at public Catalan universities for the 2023-2024 academic year, the universities involved in the university application process must return the amount of credits paid for to the students who have been assigned to a course at a university as a result of the reallocation of places within the same call, provided the application for enrolment withdrawal is submitted before the date set forth in the Decree: 30/10/2023.
This shall not apply in the following circumstances:
a) When there is a change of preferences by the student.
b) If the student re-applies in subsequent calls.
The provisions in this section refer only to the procedures for admission to Spanish public universities.
Students enrolled in other courses
- If the student submits the application before 30 November, the University will accept their withdrawal provided the full amount of tuition fees has been paid.
- Enrolment withdrawal not entail exemption from the payment of any amount, except in the specific cases stipulated in the Article 5 of the Decree on prices and the Article 6.2 of the Rules regulating the financial aspects of enrolment for official courses.
Students admitted who have begun university studies
- If the student applies for withdrawal before the date of the call for enrolment, at the request of the applicant, the University will accept their withdrawal and will not charge the fees relating to recognition and transfer. No refund will be made of the amount paid to reserve a place or for the study of recognition and transfer.
- If the student applies for withdrawal after the date of the call for enrolment:
- If the full amount of tuition fees has been paid, the University will cancel it. Enrolment withdrawal not entail exemption from the payment of any amount, except in the specific cases stipulated in the Article 5 of the Decree on prices and the Article 6.2 of the Rules regulating the financial aspects of enrolment for official courses.
