Do you know about the Office for the Prevention of Occupational Hazards and Health Promotion (OPRLiPS)?

The OPRLiPS provides individual and collective support to employees regarding health and safety in the workplace and also acts in the area of health promotion for the entire university community.

The main functions of prevention and health promotion carried out by the Office and for which it provides support and advice are:

 

  • The implementation of the Occupational Hazards Prevention Plan.
  • Employee health surveillance. In this regard, among other activities, is the medical examinations programme.
  • Application of the procedure to adapt the workplace to protect the health of employees whose health status may be affected due to their particular susceptibility to certain risk factors existing in their workplace, as well as that of unborn children and infants.
  • Information and training depending on the nature of the risks inherent in the workplace and measures to address them, for example:
    • Prevention of hazards resulting from the use of visual display units (VDU).
    • Best practices in working with pipettes.
    • Ergonomics for working with microscopes.
    • Basics of chemical, biological and radiological safety.
    • Best practices in the transfer of biological samples.
    • Protection of employees through collective and individual measures (personal protective equipment [PPE]).
    • Taking the necessary actions in case of first aid and emergency due to work activities.
    • Health promotion via healthy lifestyle campaigns.
