Gamification
Technique which designs educational journeys through actions and tasks with game-style features in order to stimulate student motivation.
How does it work?
The basis of this educational strategy is to make use of game dynamics in the classroom. The principal objective is to stimulate student motivation and interaction in order to achieve the subject competences.
Phases or Stages:
- Choose which subject or activity to apply gamification to
- Define the objective clearly and concisely
- Set a specific challenge which incorporates the acquisition of subject competences through the elements of the game
- Establish the rules of the challenge or game and the type of players
- Define a reward system (continuous assessment)
- Create a motivating competition and define different levels
- Carry out the challenge/game
- Come with teaching-learning methodologies. Video where Professor Vanesa Daza, from the Department of Information and Communication Technologies, talks about her experience with gamification.
