UPF welcomes more than a thousand international students
The return of international mobility is consolidated and the University considerably increases the number of students from around the world coming for an academic stay.
The return of physical mobility is consolidated. If the data from the past academic year were already virtually comparable to those of before the pandemic, this year they are even more in line. Over a thousand international students have descended on UPF this first term: 504 from Europe, 455 from America, 87 from Asia, and 3 from Africa.
These figures represent a strong increase compared to the previous academic year and demonstrate UPF’s attractiveness. As Sara López, head of the University’s International Relations Service explains, “the recovery is absolute, the motivation and interest of the students has increased. To this we must add that we have inherited the possibility of offering blended and online teaching, which complement these students’ stays”.

This week, UPF welcomed the new international students. The International Relations Service organized several induction sessions between 20 and 23 September, with a host of activities to welcome and introduce the international students who have arrived this term for their academic stay at UPF to the University’s services. The sessions were opened by Toni Luna, vice-rector for Internationalization, Pablo Pareja, vice-rector to the rector for Teaching Staff and Community Relations, and Maria Morrás, International Programmes director.
In this regard, Toni Luna said that “the internationalization of campuses, with the presence of a broad-based community of international students at all levels of studies, is one of the objectives pursued by the University, as well as enhancing a global talent recruitment policy”. Meanwhile, Sara López added that “the arrival of international students also presents an opportunity to promote internationalization from home, as they bring diversity and new outlooks both academically and personally”.
