11TH MEETING OF THE SPANISH NETWORK OF LAWYER'S CLINICS

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE IN THE FRAMEWORK OF LEGAL CLINICS

In recent years, the importance of regulatory compliance has become evident in our system, as an effective measure for companies and institutions to self-regulate and adapt their operations to current regulations.

The Legal Clinics are complex organisations, which bring together under the umbrella of a University, in a general way, both specialised teaching staff, as well as professional lawyers and students who carry out voluntary work. This unique structure raises many questions as to the way in which we should act in accordance with the law. For this reason, we believe that regulatory compliance is an essential tool to permanently verify that our organisations created from the perspective of social aid and support can achieve this objective with the maximum guarantees, neutralising the possible risks and inconveniences that may arise, in a preventive manner.

The 11th meeting of the Spanish Network of Legal Clinics was conceived with the aim of channelling cooperation between clinics to obtain recommendations of good practices applicable to all of them, in relation to regulatory compliance, and specifically with the following seven key points: the problem of compulsory membership; civil liability insurance; professional secrecy regulations; data protection; labour regulations; unfair competition; and the prevention of sexual and/or labour harassment.
