Research with babies
In the Infant Research Laboratory (LRI) located on the Ciutadella Campus of Pompeu University (how to get there), we study the development of language, cognition, reasoning and social aspects in the first months of a baby’s life.
The research groups that make up the LRI: Reasoning and Infant Cognition Group (RICO) and Speech Acquisition and Perception Group (SAP) seek to decipher the exciting world of the cognitive development of babies through different studies that combine different techniques.
*The Neuroscience Laboratories moved from the Poblenou Campus to the Ciutadella Campus in January 2017.
Some of the questions we want to answer are:
- How do babies perceive language before speaking?
- How do they face the challenge of learning two languages instead of one?
- Do they understand social relationships?
- Do they use logic and reasoning?
- What part of the face or what auditory information do babies use to understand the emotions of others?
- How do they develop their visual attention?
You can help us solve these and other issues by participating in our studies.
