To qualify for a UPF Erasmus+ internship grant, you must be doing an internship in a company or institution located in one of the countries participating in the programme. You must also meet the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in any of the official undergraduate, Master’s or PhD programmes at the UPF when submitting the application.

• If you are about to finish your studies, you will have one year to do the internship from the date of graduation. However, you must apply for the grant while you are still enrolled:
  • When you are enrolled and have not applied for the degree despite having obtained all the credits for the degree.
     
  • In recent graduate mode.
    • For legal reasons, some countries do require you to be enrolled in the university for the ENTIRE period of the internship. This is true in France, for example.

• Undergraduate students must have completed at least 60 credits when they submit their application.

• Accredit a B2.2 level (minimum) of knowledge of the language of the destination country or of the company’s working language.

• Be a citizen of Spain or of another EU member country or have a valid Spanish residency permit for the entire foreign internship period.

• You cannot apply for a grant if your file is already closed.

Internships must last a minimum of two months (60 days). Stays will be funded for a maximum of four months, depending on the availability of funds.

If you have already done another Erasmus mobility programme (either for studies or for internships), the total sum of all stays cannot exceed 12 months at the same level of studies (undergraduate, Master’s degree or PhD).

For example, if you are doing a second Bachelor’s degree and you did a nine-month Erasmus mobility programme in the previous degree, you will only be able to do a three-month Erasmus stay in the new Bachelor’s degree. However, if you start a Master’s degree, your “Erasmus counter” will go back to zero, even if you used up all 12 months during the Bachelor’s degree.

For this 2024–2025 call, the dates of your internship must be between 1 June 2024 and 31 July 2025.

The amount of the grant varies based on the destination country and can range between 400 and 500 euros per month. You can also receive up to 250 additional euros per month if you held a general grant from the Ministry of Education in the year before the mobility programme or have a recognised disability equal to or greater than 33%.

You will receive 70% of the total amount of the grant upon your arrival at the destination company or institution and the remaining 30% at the end of the stay, upon returning and completing all the procedures required to accredit the internship.

The Erasmus+ internships grant is compatible with the Erasmus grant for studies, as long as they are not simultaneous.

It is also compatible with other possible forms of co-funding such as the AGAUR MOBINT grant, other national grants and, of course, any remuneration that the student receives from the host company or institution.

You can do your internships in companies, training centres, research centres, universities and other organisations located in any of the EU member states (with the exception of Spain), and countries that adhere to the program (see the bases of the call, the list of countries by groups and amounts).

Host organisations that will not be considered eligible*:

• EU institutions and bodies.
• Specialised EU agencies.
• Organisations that manage community programmes (such as the Erasmus programme).

*Internships that come from calls by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation (MAEC), as well as those provided by the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia abroad, are eligible for a grant.

To receive an Erasmus+ internships grant, you must have medical insurance, civil liability insurance and accident insurance to cover any eventuality during your stay abroad.

• For medical assistance, you have to get a European Health Insurance Card from the National Social Security Institute (INSS), which gives you basic coverage in EU countries and welcomes you to the healthcare system of your destination country. However, this insurance is no alternative to travel insurance, as its benefits may often not insufficient for repatriation or certain medical interventions. This is why you have to take out some complementary private medical insurance.
   

• Regarding accident insurance, both at the place of practice and during travel. In some companies/institutions the workers are already covered, but it is not mandatory on the part of the entity, therefore: You will have to take out accident insurance abroad. In the training agreement (learning agreement for traineeships) that you will process, you will have to specify the policy number and the name of the insurance company with which you have contracted the policy.

• Civil liability insurance covers damages caused by the student, whether or not he or she is at work. During your stay, you will be covered by the insurance policy taken out by the UPF that guarantees the civil liability directly or indirectly incurred by students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes while performing internships in foreign companies.

  • If you do the internship after graduating (modality: recent graduate) you are not covered by the insurance contracted by the UPF, and therefore, you will have to take out this insurance. There is the possibility that you are covered by the civil liability insurance of the entity that will host you. Even so, we also recommend that you hire a complementary one.

The UPF must verify that you are covered during your stay at the place of the internship; this is why you will have to send us a copy of your health card and the complementary policies to the SCP, before you leave (see details in Documentation Processing).
