Visiting Researcher

Marta Kołczyńska is an assistant professor at the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a visiting researcher at the Research and Expertise Centre for Survey Methodology. She holds a PhD in sociology (2015-2017) from The Ohio State University and MA degrees in economics (2002-2007) from the Warsaw School of Economics, Poland, in cultural studies of Eastern Europe (2007-2009) from the University of Warsaw, and in sociology from The Ohio State University (2013-2014). Her work focuses on political trust, in particular on the polarization of political trust, its causes and consequences, and increasingly on other aspects of political polarization. She's also interested in comparative survey methods, including issues related to the quality and comparability of data from cross-national surveys and survey data harmonization. Both areas of research are combined in her current project “Causes and Consequences of Political Trust: Polarization and Democratic Utility of Trust in Cross-national Perspective” funded by Poland’s National Science Centre (2019/32/C/HS6/00421
