Incubator program for Final Degree Projects in Interactive Communication and Digital Culture

The UPF Starting Lab incubator is a program promoted by UPF and coordinated by Canòdrom, Creative Industrie Research Park, with the support of the Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Its main objective is the professional incubation of a few Final Degree Projects from the Audiovisual Communication Studies of UPF. In its last year's first edition, UPF Starting Lab had 10 students (some graduated and some students at that time) from UPF. In this second edition, there are 9 former students with three new different projects from the Communication and Humanities Departments of UPF. During six months, starting January 15th, the students will work on their projects in a work space at Canòdrom, where they will receive professional advice and mentoring, with the goal of turning their good projects designed on paper into real products that hopefully will find its own place in the market.

The program fosters multidisciplinary work between different studies and departments of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, allowing collaborations from students of the Communication Department, the Polytechnic School, the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Humanities Department of the UPF, and encourages the collaboration between alumni and undergraduate students aswell.

UPF Starting Lab is part of a more global strategic axis of the UPF and the Faculty of Communication that wants to boost the relationship and projection of its students with the business world and the cultural institutions of the city. Also in the sense of creating interdisciplinary projects and generating dynamics of entrepreneurship and collaboration among students, outside the framework of their established studies. In this same line of work, the UPF HackLab space is a similar program.

You can follow the current development of this year's edition on the News section of this page or on its twitter profile@StartingLab.
