Training in EyeHarp

The first phase of the project begins by establishing collaborations with some of the entities that work with people with reduced mobility in the city of Barcelona. Currently, the entities participating in the project are: Fundació Catalana per la Paràlisi Cerebral, Llars de L'Amistat Cheshire Fundació Privada and Escola Municipal de Música de Sta. Perpètua de Mogoda. The training sessions are directed by Zacharias Vamvakousis (creator of the EyeHarp and researcher of the Music Technology Group) and Gil Dori (Doctor of Musical Arts by the Arizona State University).

Adaptation of technology

Based on the needs detected through the training sessions, the technology has been adapted to improve its use by the participants in the project, especially to facilitate rhythm control. To achieve this adaptation, EyeHarp participated in the Sonar Innovation Challenge, proposing a challenge to international creators who worked for a few months on improving the technology. The result was presented at the Sonar 2018 festival edition.

Creation of musical groups and joint rehearsals

Once the training period is over, musical groups are created where traditional acoustic instruments will coexist with the EyeHarp. A series of rehearsals are carried out with musicians from the Music Technology Group and ESMUC for the preparation of the final concert.

Concert

The interpreters of the EyeHarp will play together with modern and electronic music formations, to show the work done during the months of the project. The concert will be open to the public and will take place on October 20 in the Sala Aranyó (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Roc Boronat 138, Barcelona).
