VIDAA - VirTest progress

Project objectives
The main objective of the project was to accelerate the market transfer of a technology developed within the research group, by launching a spin-off within one year. In parallel, the aim was to increase the technology readiness level (TRL) from 5–6 to 7 through the regulatory pathway, which involves clinical trials. This progression was expected to facilitate new partnerships and attract investors.

Summary of results so far
The spin-off was officially founded in October 2024. Since then, key steps have been taken towards regulatory validation, including the definition of a regulatory roadmap that will allow the team to initiate clinical studies once the current investment round is secured.

Activities and achievements
A major milestone has been the completion of the IDEAL study, a retrospective analysis involving 300 patients with 9 european hospitals. The study aims to stratify the risk of device-related thrombus using patient-specific simulations. In addition, several collaborations with medical companies have been established to further develop the technology and prepare it for clinical use.

Next steps
The immediate next step is to close the ongoing investment round, which will enable the start of clinical studies and continue progressing toward regulatory approval.
