Retaining metadata generated on set can be very useful in virtual and post production.
Metadata in this context refers to information that’s outputted from various hardware components used on a virtual production set, such as camera, lens, lights and camera trackers.
This information can be captured during filming and saved alongside the footage to provide valuable context that can be used during post production.
By capturing and retaining metadata about camera settings and lighting conditions for example, post production artists and compositor’s can more accurately integrate digital elements thus reducing some of the overheads associated with post production.
