Advanced Master in Legal Sciences
Why choose this program?
The Advanced Master in Legal Sciences has a clear international and global focus. Its content has been adapted to be attractive and interesting for a diverse, international public, and it has forged an extensive network of strategic relations with other international master's programmes, in both Europe and the Americas. Among other things, as a result of this network, the master's programme participates in the CIEL agreement, which brings together six top-ranking European universities to offer a joint certificate in Comparative International and European Law. The other participating universities are: Maastricht University (Netherlands), Universität Mannheim (Germany), Universiteit Antwerpen (Belgium), Université Toulouse 1 Capitole (France) and University of Zagreb (Zagreb, Croatia).
One of the programme's main draws is the fact that all subjects are optional (only two subjects are compulsory, including the master's thesis). Thus, students can freely choose and design their academic track. All students on the programme, who come from a wide range of countries, have the chance to participate in world-class research activities organized by the Department of Law or any of its specific areas.
Who is it for?
- Students seeking to pursue more advanced and specialized academic training than that provided by a bachelor's degree in a prestigious, international university environment.
- Legal professionals seeking to update their knowledge, explore a specific legal subject in depth, or supplement their training with a more general and international perspective.
- Students or professionals seeking to enrol on a doctoral programme and people seeking careers in teaching and research.

Structure and Syllabus

- 6 ECTS of the only compulsory subject
- 40 ECTS of elective subjects, distributed in 3 itineraries (Itinerary in Civil and Business Law, Itinerary in Public Law, Administration and Regulated Sectors, Itinerary in International Law and European Integration)
- 14 ECTS of the Master Thesis
If you complete a minimum of 20 ECTS credits in an itinerary (at least 5 subjects), you will be awarded the title for that itinerary. Choosing an itinerary is optional. Only one itinerary will be recognized on the degree, even if the student completes the necessary credits to obtain more than one.
