Josep M. Vilajosana is Professor of Legal Philosophy at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Law degree (Universitat de Barcelona, 1985) and PhD in Law (UPF, 1993). He works in legal theory on questions of changes in legal systems, relations between the Constitutional Court and Parliament, legal conventionalism, justification of punishment, and justification of obedience to the law. In short, he analyzes, in general, problems that have to do with the relations between law, morality and politics, such as the legal construction of the so-called “right to decide”. He is editor of the following academic journals: Analisi e diritto, Diritto e questioni pubbliche, Fair Play, Revista Telemática de Filosofía del Derecho, Journal of Catalan Intellectual History, Revista Catalana de Dret Públic, Revista Catalana de Dret Privat, and Revista de Dret Històric Català. Josep M. Vilajosana has been a substitute magistrate in criminal matters at the Court of Appeal of Barcelona (1997-2003), vice rector (2003-2006) and Dean of the UPF Law School (2010-2016). Currently, he is president of the Societat Catalana d’Estudis Jurídics (Catalan Society of Legal Studies, a subsidiary of the Institute of Catalan Studies, the academic institution of Catalonia).
