Serena Olsaretti has been an ICREA Research Professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra since 2010. Prior to that she was Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Cambridge, and Fellow of St. John's College. Prior to that, she had held  a Research Fellow at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, after studying at the University of Oxford, where she obtained a B.A., an M.Phil. and a DPhil.degree. She works in political and moral philosophy and has published on a number of issues regarding justice, freedom, well-being and justice and the family. Between 2015 and 2021 she was the PI of an ERC Consolidator Grant on "Justice and the Family. An Analysis of the Normative Significance of Procreation and Parenthood in a Just Society”. She is currently working on a book on Parental Justice. She has edited Desert and Justice (Oxford University Press, 2003); Preferences and Well-Being (Cambridge University Press, 2006) and the Oxford Handbook of Distributive Justice (Oxford University Press, 2018), and is the author of Liberty, Desert and the Market (Cambridge University Press, 2004) and numerous articles in various journals including Analysis, the Journal of Applied Philosophy, CRISPP, Economics and PhilosophyPhilosophy & Public Affairs, and Utilitas) and of book chapters in volumes such as the Oxford Handbook of Political Theory, the Oxford Handbook of Freedom, the Routledge Companion to the Philosophy of Childhood and Children and the Oxford Handbook of Population Ethics.
