ASTIER, CRISTINA
Cristina Astier is an adjunct professor of political philosophy and political science at University of Barcelona. She holds a PhD (with international mention) in political philosophy from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, with a dissertation entitled “Globalization in A World of Equals: A Normative Analysis of Trade-Related Inequalities” under the supervision of Andrew Williams and Paula Casal. There she analysed how trade-related inequalities might erode the institutional capacity to provide the conditions for equal treatment among both individuals and countries. She has spent visiting research periods at the DPIR, University of Oxford and the School of Transnational Governance, at the European University Institute in Florence. She is a researcher at the Institute of Democratic Governance of San Sebastián, where she has been the PI of a project funded by BBK Kuna on post-pandemic politics. She collaborates regularly with the Government of Navarre and the Government of the Basque Country. Cristina's research interests include global justice, social and economic inequalities, trade justice and climate change, institutional legitimacy, and feminism.
