Macarena García-González, coordinator and researcher of the JOVIS group, was invited to deliver one of the keynote lectures at the 27th Biennial Congress of the International Research Society for Children’s Literature (IRSCL). The event, held at the University of Salamanca and organized by professors Izaskun Elorza and Carmen Santamaría, was titled Borders, Migration and Liminality in Children's Literature and brought together more than 500 delegates from around the world presenting work on literature and media for children and youth.

García-González’s talk, titled What Can Liminality Do? Exploring Cross-Disciplinary Approaches to Children’s Literature and Culture, offered a critical reflection on the concept of liminality as a tool for thinking about methodological and epistemological transformations in the field. Drawing on the work of Victor Turner and engaging with new materialist theories, she explored how liminality enables us to imagine research practices that cross disciplines and hierarchies, while attending to the aesthetic and ethical dimensions of working with children’s texts and cultures. She particularly highlighted two emerging lines of research: studies on the material and technological conditions of literature in digitalized contexts, and inquiries focused on epistemic injustices and adult-centric orders.
