Short Biosketch

Bsc in Dentistry, Master's Degree in Epidemiology, PhD in Epidemiology.

Eliana has been entitled with the heading and management of research, teaching and extension projects for multiple organizations in health sector and the Colombian academia, with a broadened scope towards international projection ensuring scientific and academic cooperation for local development.

She has also leaded and managed the constitution, organization, direction and control of knowledge networks, as well as health, science, technology and innovation observatories.

From 2004 and till this date, She has worked as professor researcher for the Basic Sciences Department of University of Antioquia National School of Public Health, in Colombia. In 2015, She created the research line “Epidemiology and Urban Health” within the faculty’s Research Group on Epidemiology, which remains active and evolving for 5 years. Since 2017 She has been promoting the the local Seminar on Public Health and Climate Change. She has served as Strategic Relationships Coordinator for the National Faculty of Public Health “Héctor Abad Gómez” 2017-2020 and as consultant for renowned national and international health agencies such as WHO/PAHO, health ministries, COHRED, among others. She has authored and co-authored more than 120 publications and I’ve had more than 200 national and international participations in relevant events.

Research Interests

Public health policies, urban health (social capital, healthy cities), social epidemiology (inequities in health, health determinants, right to health), primary attention in health, health promotion, knowledge management (managing science, technology and information for the public sector, with special emphasis on social and transformative innovation) international cooperation (health diplomacy, global health), among others.
