Narcís Parés is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Communication Technologies at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF).

He obtained a degree in Computer Engineering at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, then an MSc in Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and a Ph.D. in Audiovisual Communication at UPF. He taught at UAB from 1991 to 1993 and subsequently rejoined UPF as a researcher. He is currently a member of the Cognitive Media Technologies Group. He is co-creator and coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Master in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media (UPF) since 2007.

Narcís has an interest in Full-body or Embodied Interaction and more specifically in Exertion Interfaces and Interactive Playgrounds. His approach starts from Interaction Design, Interactive Communication and Interaction Models. He works with real-time generated technologies such as Augmented, Mixed and Virtual Reality. He applies these technologies to people with disabilities and special needs, culture, play, physical activity, leisure and education, focussing mostly on children.

Narcís is a founder member of the "Asociación Interacción Persona Ordenador", the Human Computer Interaction Association of the Spanish-speaking international research community. He is also member of the steering committee of the International Conference on Interaction Design and Children (supported by the ACM and IFIP). He has two patents on full-body interactive devices and received the Award for "Knowledge Transfer in Communication & Information Technologies 2009" of the UPF Board of Trustees. He also received the Biodex Best Paper Award at the Third International Workshop on Virtual Rehabilitation (IWVR'04) at EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland, 2004.
