El proper dilluns 27 d’octubre tindrà lloc una nova edició de les CAE-Talks, una sèrie d’entrevistes organitzades pel UPF-Centre for Animal Ethics (UPF-CAE). Aquest episodi titulat “15 years of Carnism: the impact and Catalan translation of Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows” serà retransmès en directe a les 17:00, via Facebook (no cal tindre compte en Facebook, només accés a l’enllaç!), i registrat i penjat al canal de YouTube del UPF-CAE. La Sara Vidal-Ramón (membre del UPF-CAE) entrevistarà a la doctora Melanie Joy, l’autora del llibre Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows. A més, comptaran amb la participació del traductor al català de l’obra, Ricard Soler. 

La doctora Melanie Joy és psicòloga, ponent internacional, educadora i autora de nombrosos llibres, com el best-seller i premiat Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows (en català Per què ens estimem els gossos, ens mengem els porcs i ens vestim amb les vaques). Joy s’especialitza en temes de relacions, comunicació i transformació social, incloent el seu treball teòric i d’educació sobre el moviment vegà des d’una perspectiva psicològica. A més a més, Joy és presidenta fundadora de l’organització internacional Beyond Carnism, dedicada a la conscienciació i formació sobre el sistema opressiu que Joy va anomenar “carnisme” en la seua obra de referencia.

Next Monday, 27 October, there will be a new edition of CAE-Talks, an interview series organized by the UPF-Centre for Animal Ethics (UPF-CAE). You will be able to watch live this new instalment titled “15 years of Carnism: the impact and Catalan translation of Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows” via Facebook (you don’t need a Facebook account, you just need the access link!). It will also be recorded and uploaded to the UPF-CAE Youtube channel. Sara Vidal-Ramón (member of the UPF-CAE) will interview Melanie Joy, PhD, the author of the book Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows. They will also be joined by Ricard Soler, the Catalan translator of the book. 

Melanie Joy, PhD, is a psychologist, international speaker, educator and author of many books, including the best-selling and award-winning Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows (or Per què ens estimem els gossos, ens mengem els porcs i ens vestim amb les vaques in Catalan). Joy specializes in relationships, communication, and social transformation, including her theoretical and educative work about the vegan movement from a psychological perspective. In addition, Joy is the founding president of the international organization Beyond Carnism, which is dedicated to raising awareness and educating on the topic of “Carnism”, the oppressive system Joy coined in her landmark book.
