The UPF Centre for Digital Humanities has partnered with the CLIK to organize its first official training course, open to UPF personnel and PhD students. This course introduces the methodology of Spatial Analysis as a means of understanding the spatial dimension of different kinds of data, with the aim of deepening our understanding in a variety of disciplines, including the humanities, economics, medicine, health science, and biology. Through a combination of practical exercises and case studies, attendees will gain an understanding of how to collect, manage, analyze, visualize geospatial data through GIS in order to explore spatial patterns and relationships.

Date and time: October 22nd, 24th, 29th and 31st, from 9:00h to 11:00h.

Location: Room 24.013, Mercè Rodoreda building, Ciutadella Campus

Format: In-person training. The sessions will be in English.

Registration is required.

*Participants must bring their own laptop.

Participants who complete the course will:

  • Gain an understanding of the fundamental principles of spatial analysis and its applications in a range of disciplines.
  • Learn to collect, manage, and visualise spatial data using GIS software.
  • Develop the ability to analyse spatial patterns and relationships in order to gain insights. The course offers insights into various fields of study. It enables students to apply GIS (Geographical Information System) tools to explore historical events, economic trends, health data, biological data, and cultural phenomena. It also provides the opportunity to develop research projects using GIS to enhance understanding of the humanities, economics, medicine, health science, and biology.

The CLIK will issue a completion certificate to all participants who complete the four-session course.
