8M Workshop “From Her Perspective: Data from Medieval Narratives”
Marija Blašković and UPF-DH will organise a workshop within the 8M activities. It will take place on March 5, from 10.30h to 12.30h, in person.
In this in-person, entry-level workshop, participants will familiarize themselves with database generation and data visualization in the Humanities from the gender perspective. Prepared datasets are extracted from the Crónica de Castilla (ca. 1300), which was composed during the regency of María de Molina.

The workshop will take place in the context of the course “Introduction to Digital Humanities”.
Participants will learn how to:
a) Collect and organize unstructured information into data.
b) Create basic charts and apply filters.
c) Learn about best practices in data visualization.
The workshop will be carried out in English.
Requirements: Bring a laptop. The programmes used will be Excel and Power BI (click here to download).
