External work placements have a course load of 30 ECTS credits, are compulsory and are preferably undertaken during the second and third terms, studying the master's degree full-time (in 1 academic year), or during the second and third terms of the first year and the first term of the second year, studying the master's degree part-time (in two academic years). The second option is recommended, since some companies ask for students willing to do a full year of internships.

The master offers the possibility to undertake placements in a range of different kinds of biopharmaceutical companies. These vary from one course to the next based on what the companies are offering; but, going by the experience of recent years, there are places in the following areas:
