What is SAP

Psychological Support Service (SAP) has the goal of favoring the student adaptation in the college lifestyle, facilitating personal stability and also academic efficiency. Helping the student to understand, think and change facing its new reality.

The Pompeu Fabra University offers this service in a totally confidential and free way during the academic period of the academic calendar. The service offers two-day visits during a week, morning and afternoon, by male therapist (Monday morning) and a female therapist (Thursday afternoon). The maximum number of visits is four, which can be extended to six in the case that the therapist determines it.

SAP can help you! What does SAP consist of?

SAP is addressed to bachelor and postgraduate UPF students that need psychological and psychopedagogical orientation.

SAP offers free and confidential service.

DIRECT ASSISTANCE: psychological orientation; individual interviews about orientation and support.

INDIRECT ASSISTANCE: valuation of redirecting to other public and private mental health institutions.

Redirecting to professional orientation: speech therapist, psychiatrist, pedagogue and other experts.

The most frequent motives of consultation are adjustment problems, anxiety, social interaction issues, learning problems, phobias, relationship issues, abuse, grief, concentration problems, depression, familiar problems and sexual identity problems.

You can use the service four times maximum. They might be extended to six times if the therapists decides.

The waiting time, since the user requests the appointment until the visit day, might vary from 10 to 12 days.

Where is SAP?

You can find us in Jaume I building Ciutadella Campus, office 21,205 (Library tower)

We access the Ciutadella Library through the door where we find the PIE desk

We continue straight through the central corridor of the library

At the end of the central corridor, on the left hand side, we find the access to the Library tower

The SAP office is located on the second floor of the tower. If you have mobility problems, we can provide you with an elevator key.

What can we do if we see/notice possible suicide thoughts or ideas?

1. Get in contact with Direcció de Campus (*) or with the Emergency Service from Generalitat of Catalonia with 112 telephone. Generalitat has an established protocol for emergencies.

2. Afterwards get in contact with SACU (University Community Assistance Service) dialing its telephone number and adding 2111 or by mail [email protected]. SACU assists students with special education needs either for disabilities or health issues.

3. SACU will take care of giving all the information to the SAP therapists in order to verify if you are already one of the users of the service. In that case, the same therapists could intervene and try to help the student.
