Films
Books are not enough. Trans and non-binary people need to occupy all possible cultural discourses and formats. And films have been, and remain, especially prolific.
In this selection, you will find, of course, Pedro Almodóvar’s essential work (Tacones lejanos, 1991; Todo sobre mi madre, 1999; La mala educación, 2004; La piel que habito, 2011), as well as classics of trans documentary film, such as Transamerica (Duncan Tucker, 2006), and literary adaptions, such as Orlando (Sally Potter, 1994). It also includes more recent works that exemplify a timid international boom of new trans and non-binary film: Girl (Lukas Dhont, 2018), Una mujer fantástica (Sebastián Lelio, 2017) or Tomboy (Céline Sciamma, 2017).
