Gender equality: 'unlock the full potential and mainstreaming'
The promotion of gender equality in research is based on establishing the gender dimension as a criterion of RRI. The Horizon 2020 programme identifies two main lines of action where research projects are concerned:
-
Fostering gender balance in research teams.
-
Integrating the gender dimension into all the different stages of research, involving collecting and analysing separate data for each sex and considering the implications of the biological, social and economic differences between men and women.
A commitment to science with, for and on women is reflected in various European and Spanish regulations, including Spain's Science, Technology and Innovation Law (Law 14/2011), as well as in the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for 2013-2020 and Catalonia's different research and innovation plans.
