Emeritus researcher at the Institute for Research in Artificial Intelligence (IIIA-CSIC), CSIC
Research Professor at the CSIC's Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (IIIA), of which he was founder and director. Pioneer of artificial intelligence (AI) in Spain and Europe, he has been researching AI since 1975. Author of more than three hundred scientific works. He received the Julio Rey Pastor National Research Prize in Mathematics and Information and Communication Technologies (2018). He is a member of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans.
