Merche Blasco

Merche Blasco is a multimedia artist and composer who divides her time between Berlin and Barcelona. She was awarded the DAAD fellowship in Music and Sound for the 2022–2023 academic year.

She earned her PhD in composition from New York University with the dissertation IN power/OUT of Control – Listening to the Margins, a work that reflects her commitment to alternative modes of listening and marginal perspectives. At +RAIN 2025, she presents a piece that emerges from this critical and sensorial approach. 

Together with Felicity Mangan, she will present an immersive electroacoustic performance in which sounds from ecosystems, generative biophonic textures, and custom instruments intertwine to imagine new forms of coexistence, symbiosis, and adaptation between animals, plants, and machines in times of ecological crisis.
